Seems the list was pulled out of a hat.... very funny.
Damn right about that
I think this research is confusing liberal/conservative with democrat/republican. The cities in the liberal list I think are cities with people tha vote democrat but dont consider themselves to libetral or progressive. These are voters that vote democrat because of their situation but are otherwise socially and culturally conservative...
Seattle really is very liberal, with their strict gun laws, lenient marijuana laws, anti-smoking, recycling, public services, high taxes. I am surprised Olympia isn't on that list, too. It's full of hippies and liberal idealists.
alright now wheres the most libertarian cities. even a 5% population make up would be refreshing haha
I don't believe it. Detroit is no way the most liberal city in the U.S. The true test for liberal, is how accepting are they of members of the gay community, and most cities that have high black populations, like the ones listed, usually have a lot of violence towards gays. Michigan is also vehemently anti-same sex marriage. So, this is a bunch of bs. Michigan is blue only because it has a high black population, and has the auto industry. Boston, Providence, San Francisco, and Cambridge should be a lot higher, and the idea of Birmingham,AL on that list is a joke! Alabama is extremely homophobic, what a farce! Just because a city has a high black population, does not mean it is liberal in any way.
You and I think very much alike in this regard. I'm looking to relocate out of Florida because of the marriage equality issue. I'm middle class so, some fancy flight off to California is out of the question. I need to be as practical as possible. I would like to speak to any gay person looking to relocate for the same reason. While I believe 2014 will bring an additional ten new states into marriage equality, I think everyone already knows which ten they are, Colorado being one of them. Shall we do this by state or city? I say State. contact me at my email address authorpainter at gmail dot com.
This list is pure crap. Portland Oregon and San Francisco aren't even on it and those are two of the most lefty towns anywhere.
Actually San Fran came in at 9 on the lefty list, definitely too low. Why Portland, basically Berkley of the Northwest, is left off while including Birmingham, Alabama is mystifying.
