What’s that up in the sky? Well, if you’re a resident of Horry County, S.C., there’s a good chance it might be a UFO.
There have been 387 self-reported UFO sightings per-capita in the coastal county since 1925, according to the National UFO Reporting Center, an organization “dedicated to the collection and dissemination of objective UFO data.”
The location with the second highest number of sightings per-capita is Yavapai County, Ariz., which the editors would like to point out is a mere 6 hour drive from Nevada’s mysterious Area 51. Spooky coincidence? Yeah, probably.
On the flip side, data also shows the areas UFOs are less likely to visit. Fayette County, Tenn.; Okeechobee County, Fla.; and St. John the Baptist Parish, La., all have zero reported sightings (per capita) since 1925. Statistically speaking, It would appear aliens don’t much care for the South.
The data was visualized by John Nelson, a data and mapping enthusiast, who runs the UX Blog, a publication associated with IDV solutions. And while Nelson’s maps don’t necessarily prove anything, the implications are fun to consider.
So keep looking to the skies, people. The truth is out there. Maybe.
