Bigfoot may be lurking in the woods of Altoona, Pa. – stealthily stalking his prey amongst the pines. Or it might just be a big bear.

Either way, sources agree that on May 14, Altoona police responded to a call from resident John Winesickle, who claimed he had proof of the mythical creature. According to a report in the Daily Mail, the call came in around 10:30 a.m., and that afternoon, the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society received an email claiming officers on a police scanner were talking about an “unidentified animal” that had been shot and killed by a turkey hunter.

But wait, it gets weirder.

About 40 minutes later, the group received another outrageous claim – that police were radioing back and forth about “a body” that needed to be recovered. Shortly thereafter, four military helicopters were observed approaching the area where the slain Sasquatch allegedly fell, according to the Mail’s report.

Rumors of the airlifted body and turkey hunter were soon dismissed as hearsay, according to the Mail. Police informed Winesickle that the photographs he claimed were proof-positive of the Yeti were actually bear footprints.

Winesickle, in an interview with local TV station WTAJ, disagreed with the officer’s conclusion, saying, “It wasn’t a bear, it was Bigfoot.”

Other diehard Bigfoot believers are contending that the proof of the creature’s existence is being covered up by authorities, according to the Daily Mail.

American City & County attempted to contact Bigfoot by shouting into the woods, but the beast was unavailable for comment.
