Electronic tool crib tracks equipment
Smart Tool Crib permits authorized employees to log into the system using their existing ID cards, followed by selecting specific tools or equipment from compartments identified on a flat-panel monitor. After successful login, doors open automatically to permit removal of items. Closure of door identifies the compartment as empty, while recording identity of person who accessed compartment. System keeps track of user access, duration of possession and time of return, enabling various reporting options. Administrators can open all doors in seconds, or lock down the complete system. Smart Tool Crib is a variation of manufacturer’s SmartLocker electronic locker system for storing and accessing personal belongings. System pictured includes a mix of 48-in.-tall two- and four-tier compartments, accessed using a standard keyboard and card swipe interface. Lockers can be assigned to individuals on a temporary or permanent basis. All lockers are networked via computer to a central administrative office that monitors usage and controls access. Optional configurations include an integrated touch-panel monitor and control cabinet. Penco Products Inc., Oaks, Pa.
