The Los Angeles Police Department’s 3/12 work schedule, in which most officers work three days a week in 12 hour shifts, has been very popular with the officers. However, a new analysis by the city shows that the shifts may be causing longer response times and more overtime, according to the Los Angeles Times. LAPD officials say they have to decide if those problems outweigh the fact that the shift makes it easier for the department to recruit new officers and retain current ones.
