Sewer system repairs in Horton, Kan.
Horton was experiencing significant inflow and infiltration into the sewer system due to deteriorated clay pipes and brick manholes. A system-wide inspection resulted in a two-phase plan to modernize. The improvements of Phase 1 included replacing approximately 100 brick manholes and 30,000 feet of deteriorated vitrified clay pipe with new precast manholes and PVC/HDPE pipe. The price for Phase 1 of the project was $2,955,000. Phase 1 began in October 2012 and was completed in September 2013. Bidding for Phase II of the project took place in the first quarter of 2014.
