Pumps control the lake levels
The lake level control pumping station includes 17 large diesel-driven pumps and 12 parallel, 18-inch HDPE pipelines to discharge lake water directly over the dam. With a peak capacity of 200 cubic feet per second, this pumping station supplemented dam drain capacity and prevented flooding in up to a 10-year recurrence storm event. By also reducing the time required to initially lower the lake, it freed up time for the drawdown phase of the work that followed.
