The Southwest 42nd Street Flyover Bridge is one of Marion County, Fla.?s most significant transportation improvements in recent history. The flyover project completes the final leg of a 7-mile, east-west corridor driven daily by thousands of motorists traveling in Florida?s fifth largest county.
A jointly-funded effort of Marion County, Ocala, and the Florida Department of Transportation, the $12.2 million final phase is comprised of 1.5 miles of a 4-lane roadway, a flyover bridge, drainage renovations, sidewalks and bike lanes. The total cost of the entire corridor project was approximately $60 million.
