Big Bull Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility in Johnson County, Kan.
Through collaborative effort, Edgerton and Gardner, Kan., joined forces to develop the Big Bull Creek Wastewater Treatment Facility and Conveyance System. The facility is located in southwest Johnson County and supports the new Burlington Northern Santa Fe Intermodal Facility, Logistics Park Kansas City, as well as the surrounding communities. The facility, which opened in 2013, included the design and construction of a 500,000-gallon-per-day wastewater treatment plant, approximately 8,500 feet of force main and approximately 5,800 feet of a gravity interceptor conveyance system. The system also includes pumping stations, manholes and air/vacuum release valves.
