Bio: As the newly hired Education and Marketing Coordinator for St. Lucie County’s Solid Waste Department, McDonald immediately began an extensive education and marketing campaign for the newly implemented residential single-stream recycling program. The goal was to create a 30 percent increase in participation and volume. In just over a year, the program has achieved a 50 percent increase in recycled materials with only an 8 percent contamination rate. Since the program’s inception, 93 percent of the residents have participated at one time or another. As a result of Allison’s incredible successes, she was asked to present at the State Recycle Florida Today conference as well as the joint summit of the Recycle Florida Today/Swana conference.
