Versatile pipe to be displayed at construction conference (with related video)

U.S. municipalities have used Hobas pipe for new construction and rehab in a variety of installations. The company sells centrifugally cast, fiberglass-reinforced, polymer mortar pipe (CCFRPM).

The product is inherently corrosion-resistant and lasts 100 years or more, and offers a low life-cycle cost, according to the company. Key applications include storm sewers, wastewater, industrial applications and virtually all corrosive environments. The product is approved for potable water.

According to the company, the pipe provides good hydraulics. It is lightweight, high strength and offers a long, maintenance-free service life, according to the company. Installation methods for the pipe include open cut, sliplining, jacking, microtunneling, two-pass tunnel, casing carrier and above ground.

The product has leak-free, push-together joints that reduce installation time and costs. Sizes range from 18 to 126 inches for both pressure and gravity applications. The pipe is ISO 9001- and 14001- certified.

The company will exhibit at the APWA Conference & Expo, Aug 30 to Sept 2 in Phoenix, Ariz. The firm also will exhibit at the WEFTEC conference in Chicago from Sept. 26-30.

The photo shows a routine installation of Hobas pipe in a Chaska, Minn., project. The firm supplied 7,500 feet of 66-inch CCFRPM pipe. The application was sliplining. The original line consisted of unlined reinforced concrete pipe (RCP), and due to the deterioration of the line it needed to be rehabilitated.
