After 24 years of service, the AP1000 is retiring and being replaced with the Pastime pitching machine. The Pastime features an electronic AC variable-speed controller that eliminates maintenance on the variable-speed pulley, the crank handle, the speed-adjust bar and the crank handle nut, according to the company. A redesigned frame allows easy access to the entire machine. Featuring a three-phase motor, the Pastime operates on a 120-volt household current and uses 40 percent less power than its predecessor, according to the company.
