SimTek Fence produces a product that carries a 25-year warranty. The fence helps reduce sound and is anti-graffiti. The product is engineered and tested to meet Miami-Dade County (Fla.) wind load requirements, which specify 110 mph sustained, with 130 mph gusts.

The firm’s fencing does not require any painting or staining, and contains UV-12 inhibitors that allow the plastic to maintain its original granite color. The company is based in Orem, Utah.

The company’s flagship EcoStone line mimics a granite rock look, but is made of proprietary linear low-density polyethylene, and is reinforced with galvanized steel. The product is made out of the same materials used for kayaks and playground equipment. Its components are rotationally formed.

Aesthetics are a selling point of the firm’s product line, says Brad Wilson, CEO of SimTek Fence. “With rotational forming, you can simulate a knothole in the wood,” says Wilson. “In extrusion, you can’t.”

SimTek Fence has recently launched a wood-look panel fencing line, named Ashland. Ashland panels are made from a proprietary blend of polyethylene and contain up to 25 percent recycled material. No trees are cut down for the purpose of manufacturing the fence.

The Ashland panels contain UV-12 inhibitors for a lifetime of vibrant colors. Ashland polymers have been tested to withstand extreme weather conditions with little to no fading. Ashland panels will not warp, fade, or crack and never need staining. They withstand temperatures from -40 degrees Fahrenheit to +140 degrees Fahrenheit, and are unaffected by water and salt spray. They resist negative organic processes.

In the video, see how the SimTek fence stands up to a major league baseball pitcher’s 90-mph fastball.
