The final defense witness in the federal corruption trial of former Orange Beach, Ala., Mayor Steve Russo claimed the prosecution’s star witness lied on the stand. Russo, the city attorney and developer Ken Wall have been charged in connection with an alleged plot by developers to bribe Russo to get approval for a high-rise hotel, according to the Mobile Press Register. The star prosecution witness, developer Jim Brown, testified previously that Wall and he arranged for Russo to “flip” some waterfront property, a claim the defense witness, a former employee of Wall, denied.
