Socioeconomic gaps exist in places all across the country, but some metropolitan areas see worse divides than others. Race in particular, can be a determinant in such divides.
Financial news and information site 24/7 Wall St. recently created an index of eight measures to measure “race-based gaps in socioeconomic outcomes in each of the nation’s metropolitan areas.” The site used that index to rank the 15 worst cities for black Americans.
24/7 Wall St. sourced its data from the U.S. Census Bureau’s American Community Survey, nonprofit criminal justice reform initiative The Sentencing Project and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Is your city on the list?
