Achievement of Excellence In Procurement
How does your procurement organization compare with others? To applaud best practices, the National Purchasing Institute (NPI) founded the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement (AEP) award program in 1995. The AEP is awarded annually to those organizations that demonstrate excellence by obtaining a minimum score on a rating of standardized criteria. The program is designed to measure innovation, professionalism, productivity, eprocurement, and leadership attributes of the procurement organization.
The program was created by the National Purchasing Institute to:
Recognize organizational excellence in public and non-profit procurement
Encourage development of excellence
Provide benchmarks for continued excellence
Increase awareness of public procurement as a profession.
AEP is sponsored by the California Association of Public Purchasing Officers (CAPPO), Institute for Supply Management (ISM), Florida Association of Public Purchasing Officers (FAPPO), National Institute of Governmental Purchasing (NIGP), and NPI. Associate sponsors are the Airport Purchasing Group (APG), Texas Purchasing Management Association (TPMA), The Innovation Groups (IG), and U.S. Communities.
All sizes and types of entities were proud recipients of the AEP awards this year. Counties, cities, school districts, states, special districts, and universities, public and private, accepted the awards at the NPI’s 36th Annual Conference in Los Angeles, CA, on October 18, 2004 and the FAPPO Fall Workshop on November 5, 2004. Awards will also be presented to AEP recipients in attendance at the 88th Annual CAPPO Conference in Sacramento, CA, on January 17 to 21, 2005.
