Amazon Web Services unveils program to help government technology startups

Amazon Web Services (AWS) has launched AWS GovTechStart, a government technology startup accelerator designed to help eligible U.S. startup companies build the next generation of technology solutions for state and local government agencies using the AWS Cloud.

According to the company, the accelerator enables AWS GovTechStart participants to scale faster with tailored benefits like access to AWS Promotional Credit, technical training and support, a community of GovTechStart experts.

AWSGovTech is investing in startups that are innovating solutions for agencies within the U.S. state and local government sectors, including health and human services, justice and public safety, smart cities, transportation and elections. Startups are changing the way government customers serve citizens. Governments are turning to the cloud to provide cost-effective, scalable, secure and flexible infrastructure needed to make a difference, the company says.

Through the complimentary AWS GovTechStart, qualifying startups can get low-cost, easy-to-use infrastructure designed to enable it to scale and grow a business of any size. Government technology companies can apply for the AWS GovTechStart program here. Applications should include plans for innovative solutions for citizens that solve current problems and/or disrupt current models.
