Since 2018, we have selected each year’s exemplary leader award winners based exclusively on merit rather than differentiating between city, county and public works leaders. This means if your mayor stamped out corruption in your town, your police chief dramatically improved community relations or a snow plow driver worked 18 hours straight to make sure your community was safe, we want to hear about it.
Nominees are judged on their accomplishments and the impact these actions had on their communities. Please note this is not a lifetime achievement award. There are scores of public servants who have dedicated their lives to bettering their communities and they all deserve recognition; however, for the purposes of this award, we only want to hear about recent accomplishments. The winner or winners will be profiled on the American City & County website.
Nominations for the 2024 Exemplary Public Servant are now open. The deadline for submissions has been extended to Dec. 11, 2024.
