SIMA announces training session
The Milwaukee-based Snow & Ice Management Association (SIMA) will hold its regular training session in Chicago on April 25. The daylong session, titled “SIMA Goes to Court,” will feature speakers on handling court cases, developing asset protection programs and understanding the risks of snow and ice management.
Speakers at the session include trial attorney and “Snow Business” magazine columnist Darryl Beckman and G. Kent Mangelson, author of the “Advanced Tax and Asset Protection Training Manual.” Topics in the seminars will include courthouse procedures, ways to avoid potential lawsuits and which state laws provide the best asset protection. “It is important for snow and ice management contractors to understand the legal side of the industry [if we are to achieve] our ultimate goal of safer communities,” said SIMA’s Director of Education and Certification Jennifer Hallett in a statement.
The training session will be held at the Sheraton-Chicago O’Hare from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. A Certified Snow Professional exam will be held from 12 to 6 p.m. at the hotel on April 24. Call (414) 375-1940 or go to www.sima.org to register.
