Washington’s Metro Transit Police are still waiting for a new radio system, purchased by the city six years ago, to become fully functional. The $60 million system still doesn’t work at some underground Metro stations and tunnels, forcing the officers to carry the old, one-channel radios as their primary communication tool underground, according to the Washington Post. Engineering, infrastructure and design problems have slowed the full implementation of the new system, and it is unknown when those problems will be overcome.
