Mayor Ed Pawlowski, Allentown, Pa.
Here’s what Mayor Pawlowski sees in 2017: “The city of Allentown enters 2017 on a path toward long-term fiscal stability. A $105 million General Fund budget incorporates a second consecutive annual increase in the resident income tax rate, enabling recurring revenue to keep pace with rising personnel costs, particularly in health insurance. Meanwhile, the city is constraining its debt service and non-personnel costs to the maximum extent possible without impairing public service delivery quality.“
Mayor Pawlowski says a revitalized downtown and a strengthening economic recovery in the Lehigh Valley will buttress the city’s fiscal initiatives. He says that the city anticipates no further tax increases for the next several years.
