County’s Emergency Vehicles Getting Multi-County Connectivity
Emergency vehicles in Carroll County, Ark., are set to receive new technology that will enable multi-county connectivity. Over 25 vehicles have been outfitted with the Arkansas Wireless Information Network (AWIN) as part of a state-wide project funded by the Department of Homeland Security.
The Office of Information & Technology says the project was established to “design and deliver a single, reliable, shared-use wireless voice and data system that provides statewide coverage and interoperability to public safety and public service entities.
” Thirteen AWIN Motorola radio systems have been issued to the commanding officers in emergency departments, including three police chiefs, 10 fire chiefs, and the supervisors at the Carroll Sheriff’s Department.
