UVC lamps scour pathogens from indoor air
Model SE (single-ended) series UVC Emitters work with existing rooftop HVAC system air handlers to kill both surface and airborne microorganisms and prevent the spread of infectious diseases caused by bacteria and viruses. The high-output ultraviolet (UVC) germicidal units with power supply mount to exterior equipment wall or duct. Lamps penetrate the system through 1-in. holes cut into the wall and emit energy that penetrates microbes present, killing or deactivating their DNA and RNA so they cannot replicate and grow. Lamps also continuously clean system coils and prevent mold, so coils operate more efficiently. Maintenance includes changing lamps and filters annually or as needed. Available in six tube lengths (16, 20, 24, 30, 36 and 42 ins.) and four voltage options (115, 208, 230 and 277 volts AC) for fan coils, heat pumps, unit ventilators, terminal units and ductwork. UVCs have earned Innovation in Design LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) credit from the U.S. Green Building Council. Steril-Aire Inc., Burbank, Calif.
