10 cities for workers clocking in from home
With an increasing amount of American workers clocking in from home, cities are working to entice new residents who aren’t connected to a physical office.
But in this endeavor, some regions are better positioned than others.
A new ranking by RentCafe of the top 50 communities for remote workers places the top 10 in the South and southeastern United States. These cities ranked high in the number of sunny days, and days with good air quality. They also ranked for having a lower cost of living than other regions. Specifically, communities in South Carolina, North Carolina, Florida Texas, Georgia, Alabama and Maryland rounded out the top 10.
The list was compiled by analyzing and ranking “19 relevant metrics for 150 cities, using proprietary and external data, such as cost of living, apartments with short-term leases, rental demand, number of high-quality apartments, short-term rentals, rental rates, coworking spaces, percentage of remote workers, internet speed,” a brief about the findings reads. “The final city ranking is determined by the combined score in all 19 metrics.”
