Public sector sales are important in Land Pride’s 30th year (with related video)

The year 2016 marks 30 years in business for Land Pride, a division of Great Plains Manufacturing. Since beginning operations April 1, 1986, Land Pride has grown to employ hundreds of Kansans in communities across Central Kansas. The firm, which is based in Salina, Kan., produces a variety of three-point implements for global customers.

Those customers include public sector organizations, says Dee Warren, the firm’s marketing manager. “In recent years, government sales have been a big part of our success,” says Warren. In 2011 Land Pride won a contract to sell nearly 80 rotary cutters to the Kansas Department of Transportation. The firm earned follow-up contracts in 2013 and 2015. “Since the 2011 bid, we have supplied cutters to the states of South Dakota, Illinois, and Wyoming for roadside cutting, as well as countless counties and municipalities," Warren tells GPN. 

The firm also holds a contract with cooperative purchasing solutions provider NJPA. “The contract has allowed our company to sell to a broad range of schools, municipalities, and government agencies. We have sold seeders, grooming mowers, rotary cutters, tillers, drills – really our entire product line,” says Warren.

Land Pride offers products in the landscape and light construction industry. It also is a manufacturer of folding rotary cutters in 12-, 15-, and 20-foot widths. As it approaches its 30th anniversary, Land Pride is also establishing itself as a major player in the manufacture of skid steer attachments.

The company’s anniversary year celebration will kick off in Louisville, Ky., at the 2016 National Farm Machinery Show. The show takes place February 10-13 and will coincide with Great Plains’ 40th anniversary. The 2016 Land Pride and Great Plains booths at the show will highlight both anniversaries with special signage, co-branded displays, and over 50 implements occupying over 13,000 square feet.

As part of the anniversary celebration, several employee events are scheduled in April. Additionally, public tours of several Land Pride and Great Plains facilities are planned for late spring. Once plans are finalized, the community will be invited to tour several company locations and get a glimpse into what Land Pride and Great Plains are all about. Events will include walking tours of the production facilities with the opportunity to see a few of the machines working. Dates and further details will be announced at a later date.
