High mast light fixture offers versatility (with related video)

The HMAO LED II luminaire from Atlanta-based Acuity Brands is engineered for new and retrofit high mast applications. Use it in parking lots, airports and roadways that require good visibility and enhanced safety. It is also suited for terminals and warehouses, truck stops, ports and docks and toll plazas.

The product’s optical modules come with a range of distribution options. A total of five dedicated distributions are designed for all types of installations where high mounting is required. The fixture is suited for side entry mounting via the integrated four-bolt mounting system, which also offers 0- or 5-degree tilt.

The assembly uses convection and conduction to thermally manage the LEDs. This helps ensure long life and high delivered lumen outputs to replace 400- to 1,000-watt metal halide systems. Its gear housing is designed to maximize heat dissipation, via conduction, from critical electronic components. This helps to ensure that they run as cool as possible to deliver a long system life.

The unit combines LED technology with a glass refractor optic. The product’s design breaks up the image of LEDs with a glowing effect from prismatic glass optics. This reduces the glare normally associated with individual LEDs and eliminates hot spots on the targeted area, thus creating a uniform lighting appearance. The luminaire from Holophane was recognized recently by the Lux Awards with the Exterior Luminaire of the Year Award.
