Volume continues to soar on the truck auction market
According to the new edition of The Truck Blue Book’s “Commercial Truck Monthly Report,” the overall auction market was up 37 percent in volume during September. The increase in volume resulted primarily from the 38.7 percent increase in heavy-duty trucks, along with a 24.5 percent increase on medium duty.
This edition tracks important benchmarks for the truck industry during September 2015. It includes regional, age and price trends and an age analysis. The data used for the report includes all types of class 4-8 commercial trucks.
A few observations from the latest edition:
–Medium-duty auction prices saw a decrease after last month’s large jump, while heavy-duty shows the fourth consecutive drop month over month.
–Q3 pricing fell short of Q2 averages on the resale market and continued to drop in September.
The purpose of the monthly report is to look at market trends for used commercial trucks by model year, size class, and regionally on a month-to-month and quarterly basis. The report provides an overview of the current standing of the market and the types of trucks that are currently selling at the highest rate along with their prices. “The report enables buyers to know what is currently available, and owners/sellers to know how much their truck may be worth in comparison to what else is on the market,” says Jessica Carr, Senior Industry Analyst for Price Digests & EquipmentWatch.
