Compact track loader features non-DPF diesel engine
The Bobcat T740 is a large, powerful machine that works well in construction, landscaping, parks and recreation, buildings and grounds and other municipal applications. It is a Tier 4-compliant 700 frame-size compact track loader. Its diesel engine is less than 75 horsepower and does not require a diesel particulate filter (DPF), selective catalytic reduction (SCR) or diesel exhaust fluid (DEF). The machine joins the company’s M-Series compact loader line.
The model (photo below on left) uses a diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) to meet Tier 4 emission standards, but without the need for a DPF. The DOC is a catalyst that reacts with engine exhaust upon contact and transforms combustion byproducts into water and carbon dioxide.
The machine features an ultra-low particulate combustion (ULPC) engine with an engine combustion chamber that reduces the amounts of particulate matter created during combustion — making Tier 4 compliance possible without using a DPF.
This vertical-lift-path loader is designed to lift loads high so it’s easy to clear high-sided truck boxes and hoppers.
The hydraulic systems on M-Series loaders have high standard flow and pressure, for increased attachment performance. An optional 30.5-gpm high-flow hydraulic option gives T740 operators good attachment power, boosting machine productivity. More than 60 of the manufacturer’s attachments are approved for use with the model.
The T740 features a cab-forward design that moves operators close to the attachment and the work area. The unit provides visibility in all directions. The loader has a large cab door opening; this helps ensure visibility to attachments, particularly to the cutting edge and corners of the bucket.
The manufacturer is based in West Fargo, N.D. The firm is a manufacturer and distributor of compact equipment. Bobcat compact equipment includes skid-steer, all-wheel steer and compact track loaders; compact excavators; mini-track loaders; VersaHANDLER telescopic tool carriers; utility vehicles and Toolcat utility work machines.
