Brawny electric utility vehicle performs a variety of tasks (with related video)
The new Bigfoot XL from Anaheim, Calif.-based Taylor-Dunn offers hill-climbing gusto. It is designed to handle outdoor applications at schools, universities, parks, fields, municipal and commercial complexes, outdoor arenas, and other areas that require fume-free operation. Use it to haul or tow a load or to move personnel.
The 48-volt electric unit travels at speeds up to 18 mph. It is equipped with a 17-horsepower, 48-volt AC motor, GT drive and rack and pinion steering. The unit has all-wheel hydraulic disc brakes.
The model has a range of 40 miles. Its load capacity is 3,000 pounds, while its tow capacity is 10,000 pounds. The unit holds an operator and passenger.
The vehicle features a large operator’s compartment. It is equipped with sliding adjustable seats, tilted steering, ample legroom and an ergonomic design.
As with all of the company’s vehicles, customizations are made at the factory to suit the application. Available customizations for this model include deluxe cab, econo cab, fold-away second seat, steel panel box. lockable cargo box, stake sides and aluminum drop-down sides.
Taylor-Dunn has held a contract with the General Services Administration (GSA) with the federal government for many years. The firm supplies vehicles to Veterans Affairs hospitals, U.S. post offices, military bases, federal prisons, Bureau of Indian Affairs, the Army Corps of Engineers, and other federal facilities.
