NRPA awards competition will fund parks projects
Parks Build Community is a National Recreation and Parks Assn. (NRPA) initiative that shows the value of parks on the health and vitality of U.S. communities. NRPA is working with Disney, ABC and ESPN to expand the program and provide communities with resources to improve local parks through various projects. The projects connect kids with nature, promote healthy living and provide access to sports. During Earth Month this April, NRPA invites everyone to help select parks across the country to receive grant funding to help make improvements. Visit this site to learn how.
NRPA is giving $20,000 in grants to 16 communities for park improvement projects. The public can vote for 3 predetermined projects in 15 cities and then nominate a 16th “wild card” project anywhere in the U.S. This gallery shows some of the projects under consideration for the Parks Build Community awards.
