Need heavy equipment intelligence? It’s all here
The new EquipmentWatch INDEX has been issued, and it includes a quick look at price, volume and age trends observed during March 2014.
The monthly INDEX is an information tool that helps fleet professionals track critical heavy equipment benchmarks. With the INDEX, fleet professionals can make knowledgeable heavy equipment decisions around price, market share and equipment age metrics.
Members of the EquipmentWatch community receive these reports regularly. Provide your email address at this site to receive the EquipmentWatch INDEX in your e-mail inbox every month.
The latest INDEX shows the following highlights that EquipmentWatch researchers observed over the past month:
• Nationwide prices and volume increased 0.6 percent and 3.4 percent, respectively.
• Prices continue to rise in the Southeast—up 1.5 percent compared to February.
• Volume increased dramatically in the Southwest—up 8.9 percent compared to February.
According to Patrick Dogan, who is Manager, Analytics at EquipmentWatch, the latest INDEX report shows March prices and volume are increasing compared to February. “Seasonality appears to be the primary driver for substantial volume increases in warmer states,” says Dogan.
A couple of other points that Dogan found in his analysis of the March EquipmentWatch INDEX data: “The age of equipment on the market remained stable for each industry sector. If prices continue to rise, we will expect to see volumes increase and equipment age decrease.”
For the past 30 days, the latest INDEX report tabulated 9,927 equipment units at public auctions and 299,818 equipment units at resale (private). The latest INDEX report also provides age benchmarks for various kinds of equipment by category and manufacturer.
