Omaha! Omaha!
Peyton Manning, quarterback for the Super Bowl-bound Denver Broncos, is getting a little appreciation from the Cornhusker State for his preferred pre-snap call of “Omaha!”
In an NFL.com video montage of the Broncos' playoff victory against the San Diego Chargers, Manning shouted out “Omaha!” on 44 occasions. The Associated Press reports it isn’t clear what Manning means by barking the order – at least not to anyone outside of the Broncos' locker room.
But Omaha Mayor Jean Stothert is happy for the recognition. "I think it shows Peyton Manning really loves Omaha," she told the AP. "I'll personally take him on a tour. He has an official invitation now."
During the game, @VisitOmaha, the official Twitter handle of the Omaha Tourism Bureau, tweeted, “We appreciate all the love from #PeytonManning 🙂 #OmahaOmaha,” according to Forbes.
David Brown, the Greater Omaha Chamber of Commerce president and CEO, is also pleased with Manning’s apparent penchant for his city. Forbes reports Brown wants to explore the possibility of hiring Manning to shoot a promotional video for Omaha.
Forbes says the joke is now that, should the Broncos defeat the Seattle Seahawks this Sunday, Manning may forgo the celebratory trip to Disney World, and instead head to The Big O.
