Maryland commission adopts cloud-based management tool (with related video)

The Maryland-National Capital Parks Planning Commission (M-NCPPC) has selected a Kronos cloud-based work force management system to control labor costs. The commission also hopes to minimize compliance risk and improve productivity with the system.
 
The commission, which has been a Kronos customer, will migrate its work force management applications to the Kronos Cloud to reduce total costs of software ownership and improve operational efficiency. Kronos will perform all configuration, maintenance, upgrades and support of the system.

The M-NCPPC is a bi-county agency that administers a park system spread across more than 52,000 acres. “Our staff of 6,000 includes a mix of planners, park and recreation administrators, park police, as well as a large seasonal work force,” says Tracey Harris, IT systems manager in the office of the CIO at The M-NCPPC.

Harris says Kronos has helped the commission effectively manage attendance data for its diverse work force over the years. “Based on those benefits, we decided to move to the Kronos Cloud to ensure that our work force management solution is running smoothly and cost-effectively and we can focus on other priorities.”

With the new system, the commission is upgrading the way it collects time-worked data from employees. The commission has implemented Kronos InTouch time clocks to provide employees more control over their time, enabling them to check accrual balances, request time off, and view schedules — all in real time. InTouch has a powerful interface to enhance the user experience.    

More than half of the Fortune 1000 businesses use Kronos systems to control labor costs, minimize compliance risk, and improve work force productivity. Kronos customers include tens of thousands of organizations (including governments) in more than 100 countries.
