Fire chief quits over Boston Marathon bombing command-slams

Steve Abraira resigned this week as chief of the Boston Fire Department. Abraira’s resignation is effective tomorrow. Deputy Fire Chief John Hasson will serve as interim chief.
Abraira’s resignation was announced to all members of the Boston Fire Department in an e-mail Monday from Roderick Fraser, the city’s fire commissioner.
Thirteen deputy chiefs criticized Abraira over his handling of the Boston Marathon bombings in an April 26 letter to Boston's mayor. They said Abraira failed to assume command responsibility at the bombing scene and questioned his management style.
