APWA: ‘Transportation bill is an opportunity’

In June, Congress approved a two-year bill to overhaul federal highway and transit programs. The bill, Moving Ahead for Progress in the 21st Century (MAP-21), authorizes $105 billion in funding for surface transportation projects across the country. It speeds up the time it takes to complete road projects and includes safety measures such as new rules for interstate passenger buses and financial incentives for states that crack down on drunken or distracted driving.
