Powerblanket’s heating blankets
Multi-Duty (MD) heating blankets provide heat and prevent freezing on concrete curing projects and other applications. For concrete curing, the blankets retain moisture throughout the natural hydration process to create a wet cure environment that protects against cracking and rapid drying.
The product’s technology uniformly distributes an insulated barrier of heat while consuming low levels of energy, according to the manufacturer. The heating blankets provide an environmentally friendly solution for curing concrete.
An independent test showed the blankets achieve desired PSI levels quickly, speeding up curing time by almost three times, enabling construction crews to advance projects quickly and save labor costs for bridge decks, tilt-up, precast, block walls, footings, flatwork and other concrete construction jobs. The test took place with ambient air temperatures from 22.3 to 38.6 degrees Fahrenheit, which is consistent with “Cold Weather Concreting” as defined by ACI 306.
The blankets can thaw frozen ground to a depth of 24 inches and keep construction materials and machinery from freezing. Test results showed the heating blankets to be more effective than band heaters at warming and insulating drums, buckets, pails, gas cylinders and IBC totes.
For heating, insulating and protecting temperature-sensitive materials, heating blankets are available in both fixed temperature and adjustable versions. The heating blankets are offered in standard sizes ranging from 2-by-2 feet to 11-by-23 feet, and custom sizes are available. Standard blankets are rated to minus 10 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 23 degrees Celsius), while arctic versions are rated to perform in temperatures as low as minus 40 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 40 degrees Celsius).
The blankets’ UV vinyl construction combined with welded seams and weatherproof materials make an outer shell that is winter-proof and water-resistant. The blankets are powered by 120-volt electricity, to eliminate the open flames and hazardous waste associated with common heating products. Non-horizontal versions of the blankets are certified to UL/CSA/ETL safety standards.
