Will it intersect Penny Lane or Love Street?
Children have different priorities from grownups, and apparently they do not include filling potholes or other mundane city government operations. Instead, when 11-year-old Caroline Gonzalez became “mayor for a day” of her hometown, Forney, Texas, she opted to use her temporary powers to rename part of Main Street for teen heartthrob Justin Bieber, according to the Associated Press (AP).
On Tuesday, Forney officials erected a temporary sign for “Justin Bieber Way” during a ceremony. City Manager Brian Brooks told AP that Gonzalez, who is active in student council, recycling and community service projects, won a contest meant to get young people interested in municipal government. Brooks said city officials were not able to reach Bieber to invite him to town for the ceremony, which is about 15 miles east of Dallas.
Even if it is not exactly practical, Gonzalez’s action was not very costly. Officials say the street sign was made for about $20.
