Choose from a bounty of public facilities meetings in 2011
Several conferences for public facilities managers are scheduled for 2011. The U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) stages its Government Summit 2011: Fuel for a Clean Energy Economy on May 10-11 in Washington.
One of the educational programs at the conference will cover return on taxpayers’ investment for green buildings and public facilities in government. Thomas Abdallah, chief environmental engineer at MTA New York City Transit, will moderate the session.
Maryland’s Gov. Martin O’Malley will talk about sustainability at the state level and his work with commerce, industry, labor, and state and local leaders to set a goal to reduce greenhouse gas emissions 25 percent in his state by 2020. The program is predicted to generate a net benefit of more than $2 billion in energy savings and create more than 100,000 new green jobs statewide.
IFMA’s World Workplace 2011 is the annual conference for the International Facility Management Association (IFMA). The 2011 World Workplace Conference and Expo takes place Oct. 26-28 in Phoenix.
Some of the topics at the event that will be of interest to public facilities administrators and other government officials include:
