Love takes the bus
Public transit doesn’t have a very romantic reputation, but a Canton, Ohio, man may have changed that. On Valentine’s Day, Mark Rose paid the city’s transit agency $300 for a special ad on the side of a public bus as part of his marriage proposal to his girlfriend, according to the Associated Press and a press release from the Stark Area Regional Transit Authority (SARTA).
The lucky lady, Laura Kalamets, and Rose were eating lunch at a Canton restaurant when she looked out the window to see a public bus with an ad on its side that read: “Laura, Will You Marry Me?” It was signed “Mark” and included, in smaller letters, the words “and make me the happiest man in the world.” Rose had arranged for the bus to be parked in the right spot around noon. Kalamets says she thought she’d have a heart attack.
The Repository newspaper of Canton reports the ad will remain in place for a week. Now it has the additional message: “She said yes.”
