Carbon Summit changed to virtual format
The Carbon Summit, a forum for proponents of a carbon market to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, will be held in a virtual format this year. Originally scheduled to be held in Washington, the Carbon Summit Webinar is now scheduled for Jan. 19th.
The change is intended to make the summit more accessible, said Mette Petersen, president and managing director for Chicago-based Koelnmesse Inc., co-sponsor of the event along with Washington-based Carbon Markets & Investors Association (CMIA). “Hosting this Webinar will allow the largest possible audience to participate in an efficient and cost-effective way.” The Carbon Summit is planning a series of three Webinars leading up to Carbon TradeEx America, scheduled for Sept. 28 – 29 in Chicago.
The first Webinar will include a debriefing on what was accomplished during the Conference of Parties climate talks in Copenhagen, which started Monday. It also will cover the effects of the Copenhagen conference on legislation in the United States, the implications of the conference for U.S. investors and whether a global carbon market can be achieved.
The Webinar is scheduled to begin at noon EST and will run for an hour and a half. The price for the Webinar is $45, and registration is open at www.thecarbonsummit.com.
