Rush hour commutes are hard enough without having to watch out for the undead, too. In January, somebody hacked into two electronic traffic signs on a busy stretch of road in Austin, Texas, and programmed them to display messages like “Zombies in area! Run!” according to Austin television station KXAN. “Even though this may seem amusing to a lot of people, this is really serious, and it is a crime,” Austin Public Works spokesperson Sara Hartley told KXAN. Similar incidents have occurred in Illinois and Indiana. In the latter, a sign warned, “Raptors ahead — caution!”
