Hoosier police officers crack the books
More than 30 officers from 25 Indiana law enforcement agencies boned up on current police techniques during a daylong training session at Pendleton (Ind.) High School. Officers received training in verbal judo conflict-resolution strategies, as well as proper operation of radar in speed and traffic enforcement.
Jim Creson, a retired sergeant from Tupelo, Miss., presented the session on verbal judo. Kevin Morrison, who has been with the radar lab at the International Association of Chiefs of Police for more than 10 years, presented workshops on radar and video applications in traffic enforcement.
Decatur Electronics, a Decatur, Ill-based manufacturer of police radar, in-car video systems and message trailers, sponsored the session. The company has been making traffic radar for more than 50 years, and produces the Genesis line of police radar, the OnSite speed trailer line and the Shadow 800 digital video system.
