New Year’s Eve will pass quietly in Kaysville and Fruit Heights, Utah. Officials in both towns, in which The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is the dominant faith, decided to not hold public New Year’s celebrations because Dec. 31 is on a Sunday, and they don’t believe enough people would attend, according to the Herald Extra. Salt Lake City’s Downtown Alliance will hold its annual New Year’s Eve event, but officials there also say they expect attendance to be light.
