Give me shelter
B. Keith Pugh, director of engineering services for High Point, N.C., took this photo of Mendenhall Station last week. The $12.9 million facility was built as a transportation hub for the High Point Furniture Market, a semi-annual event that attracts approximately 100,000 attendees each spring and fall. Phase 1 of the canopy construction is currently in place and functional for the Fall Market, and phase 2 will finish the canopy by March 1, 2007, in time for the Spring Market. The project is funded by FTA, NCDOT, the High Point International Home Furnishings Market Authority, and the City of High Point.
