Alabama town considers expanded limits for sex offenders
For some residents of Tuscaloosa, 2,000 feet isn’t a sufficient distance to place between where convicted sex offenders live and work and the city’s schools and day-care centers.
For some residents of Tuscaloosa, 2,000 feet isn’t a sufficient distance to place between where convicted sex offenders live and work and the city’s schools and day-care centers. The City Council’s Public Safety Committee is considering a proposed ordinance that would expand the state-mandated 2,000-foot limit to 3,000 feet, according to the Tuscaloosa News. Opponents of the ordinance say it leaves nowhere in the city where the sex offenders could live.
