The Cabarrus County, N.C., Commission has decided to tear down an old newspaper building despite spending $50,000 to study how to save it. The commissioners decided to demolish the Concord Tribune building after learning that it would cost another $21,000 to save it, according to the Charlotte Observer. Residents who wanted to save the building criticized the fact that the commission voted on the issue at a special meeting that members of the public did not attend.
