Virginia Beach Launches E-Government Software
Virginia Beach residents who are weary of noisy partygoers down the street, or graffiti on their local bus stops, will soon be able to file their complaints online, thanks to the launch of a new e-government initiative.
Responsible for maintaining neighborhood quality by enforcing the citys property maintenance ordinances, Virginia Beach Department of Housing and Neighborhood Preservation will use a web-based enterprise system, Accela Automation, to automate the citys inspection and code enforcement activities as well as zoning activities including complaint responses, patrol inspections, systematic inspections, certificates of compliance, fee calculation and collection, and more.
Users access the application using a Web browser and all departmental data is stored in a central database, eliminating the need to access multiple systems.
“Accela Automation improves our ability to efficiently deliver government services to our citizens, fulfilling our mission to preserve and enhance the quality and livability of the city’s housing and neighborhoods and promote the economic vitality of the city,” stated Andrew Friedman, director of housing and neighborhood preservation.
With a population topping 430,000 citizens, Virginia Beach is the largest city in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
