Streamlight Weapon Lights
In recent years, there has been a campaign to put a light on each police officer’s firearm; these lights, however, can be costly, and if a handheld light is also required, the user will have to carry two. As such, many light companies are currently manufacturing handheld models that can be attached as well to weapons.
Streamlight recently launched two of these lights: The Tactical Strion, a 116-lumen light that is rechargeable, and the TL3 shockproof, a 211-lumen light that utilizes three CR123A batteries and is part of the Thunder Ranch illumination system.
For overall duty use, the Tactical Strion may be preferable, since it is rechargeable and cuts down on the price of batteries. The charger unit comes with AC and DC plugs so it can be charged at home or the office and in a duty vehicle.
It has an adjustable focus beam that allows the police officer to utilize a wide beam to inundate a vehicle’s inside and eradicate blind spots, and can be turned with a twist into a blinding spot, highly useful during a traffic stop.
For officers seeking a handheld light that will spend the bulk of its time in a long gun, the TL3 Shockproof is the way to go.
The Thunder Ranch Urban Rifle package includes the TL3, a weapons mount, a small rail to place the light on a standard AR forearm, a green light filter to help keep up night vision, and an instructional DVD.
