Mesa, Ariz., officials have released hundreds of e-mails sent by employees in the city’s police department that contain offensive material such as pornography and racial epithets. As part of a probe that began last year, the city has disciplined 266 police employees and 230 city employees from other departments in connection with the e-mails, according to The Arizona Republic. Sixty-three of the police employees have filed grievances with the city regarding the disciplinary action taken against them, which included suspension for some. The Mesa Police Association says the e-mails did not affect the department’s service.
