An Albuquerque, N.M., council member wants residents to vote on the ethics reform bill he proposed but the council voted down. Councilor Brad Winter says the state needs ethics reform and Albuquerque should lead the way, according to The Albuquerque Tribune. His bill included guidelines for campaign contributions and rules to prevent contractors from using those contributions to influence politicians. Opponents say they want to see an amended version of Winter’s bill, one that does not have a section they say is unnecessary. http://www.abqtrib.com/albq/nw_local_state_government/article/0,2564,ALBQ_19859_4754134,00.html
